Hellgate High School Bands
Concert Band/Intermediate - Is made up of Sophomores and Advanced Placement Freshmen.
Symphonic Band/Advanced - Is generally made up of Advanced Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.
Percussion Ensemble - this class is made up of ALL percussionists in the Hellgate Band program. We study all things percussion, perform our own percussion ensemble music AND provide percussion services for Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Concert Band.
Wind Ensemble - Is the TOP Advanced Placement band. Students must demonstrate high levels of playing skill and audition to be a part of this ensemble.
Jazz Band 1 - Is a curricular class that meets during ZERO Period starting at 8:00 AM M, T, W, F and 9:00 AM on Th. This class centers on Jazz performance, improvisation, jazz history and composition. By audition only.
(Suspended for 2021/22) Jazz Band 2 - Is a curricular class that meets as a Zero Period class (6:50 - 7:40 AM). This class centers on jazz performance and improvisation.
Marching Band - This combined group is made up of Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble members. We rehearse individually during our class periods and then collectively blow down for Football games and the UM Homecoming Parade!
Pep Band - This AUDITIONED group represents the fun side of musical craziness! They perform at both girls and boys basketball games.
BRASS BAND - This is a volunteer group that works on and performs New Orleans Brass Band style music. We are forming more groups this year, so be sure to volunteer if this interests you!
